Meet Heather Hemsley<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I’m so excited for you to meet my friend Heather Hemsley. Heather and I worked together at our previous brokerage, and it was so fun when she decided to join forces and move her business to eXp. She’s been serving clients in North Atlanta for sixteen years, and we’re so lucky to have her in our partner network. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CR: Hi Heather, tell our readers more about yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HH: Hi Casey, Thanks! While I wasn’t born in in Atlanta, I was definitely raised here.  I graduated from Parkview High School, #7 in my graduating class.  I spent one year at Brigham Young University and then transferred to Georgia State University.  I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in Real Estate.  I was one of only 4 women in the program at the time.  I studied Real Estate Finance, appraisal, site selection, land use planning, zoning, and real estate law. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.8 GPA.  I received two scholarship awards at while at Georgia State including The Atlanta Association of Professional Mortgage Women’s Scholarship and Kirkland and Company Scholarship for an outstanding Junior in Real Estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After graduation, I began my career as a mortgage originator Regency Mortgage. I loved working on the lending side of real estate but after I started my family, I stayed home with my kids for a few years. Eventually, I needed to go back to work, so I got my real estate license in 2006.  Just in time for the market to crash!  I learned the short sale and foreclosure market very quickly. I have definitely been through the ups and downs with this business. I am proud to say that I have helped close to 300 families buy or sell their homes over the last 16 years!  My passion is helping my clients find homes to create a life in. Hearing that my clients love their home 1 year later or 10 years later is the most fulfilling part of my job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CR: Wow, such an impressive career! It’s so rewarding to hear from happy clients who love their homes. One of the best parts of the job! Tell me more about your kids!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HH: I have 3 children that aren’t children any more.  Ethan is 28 and a master’s student at Arizona State University studying music education.  Parker is 26 and lives in Salt Lake City.  He is an analyst for Goldman Sachs in their Private Equity division.  Emily is 22 and recently married her high school sweetheart.  She is a senior at Brigham Young University studying Public Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CR: So great, I know you’re such a proud mama of all of them! Alright, a little business chat, why did you choose eXp?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HH: The number one reason was because of the incredible flexibility it gives me.  I want to expand my business into Utah, Arizona, and Florida. Having my license in each state under one brokerage is key to that growth.  I love that it is cloud-based and does not have the overhead of brick-and-mortar offices.  I feel this is the future of real estate brokerages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CR: I’m with you there, friend. It really is the brokerage of the future and I love that you can have different state licenses to really grow the business you want to grow. Since you’ve been in the business for a while, tell me, when you’re looking at homes, what’s your favorite room in any house? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love that [eXp] is cloud-based and does not have the overhead of brick-and-mortar offices. I feel this is the future of real estate brokerages.<\/p>Heather Hemsley<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

HH: My favorite room in the house is the family room.  I love watching chick flicks with my daughter and sports with my sons.  The family room is where all the fun happens.  I like my house loud with laughter and fun. I absolutely HATE to cook, so popcorn and pizza in front of a movie with my family is my favorite! Add a fire in the fireplace and that is heaven.  The family room is definitely my favorite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CR: I love this answer! It really sounds like that’s the place to be in your house! So much fun and I’m with you on the cooking part. \ud83d\ude09 So, how would you define your personal design style? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

HH: I have renovated 3 houses in the past 8 years, plus helped countless clients make choices of how to update their home to bring the most ROI.  I just recently bought my first home on my own and I am about to embark on renovating it.  I am ADDICTED to Instagram decorating accounts, which is how I was first introduced to you.  My personal decorating style has evolved a lot over the years. I guess I would describe my style as European country. I always go back to that traditional, warm, collected style.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CR: So amazing! I can’t wait to see what you do with your home. Congratulations! I know that’s so exciting. European country is so classic and I love that warm and cozy vibe! Ok, one last question with a takeaway for our real estate readers, what’s you favorite professional development book?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HH: “The One Thing” by Gary Keller.  I tend to try to multi-task everything and this book helped me realize that multitasking does not make me more efficient and productive, just the opposite.  I’m not saying that I don’t still try, but I know it doesn’t get me farther ahead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CR: Such a good one. I love that book! What does your ideal future look like?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HH: My goals for the future are to complete my broker’s license and buy several investment properties.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CR: I’m so excited to watch all of that unfold, you’re inspiring me to go for my broker’s license as well too.
