CR: Hi Jorge, so great to chat with you today! Tell us about yourself!
JM: Great to catch up with you, too! I was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the USA at 11 years old. After moving to the States, I was raised in RhodeĀ Island and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Social Studies. I moved to Georgia in 2013 and became a police officer in Gwinnett County but after a year of service, I knew I wanted more for myself and my family. I purchased a “Pak Mail” store in Johns Creek and then I realized I purchased a job but I was much more interested in the entrepreneurial aspect.
I started researching businesses with flexibility and wealth-building opportunities and real estate was top 5 on every list so I got my license! I am an only child and my biggest goal is to provide for my parents and make sure they never lack. Thanks to real estate, I was able to retire my mother in 2016 and she has not worked another day. My girlfriend and I both work in real estate and we love that it gives us the flexibility to enjoy each other and do what we love most, travel.
CR: That’s quite the background! One of my favorite things is hearing what led people to real estate and I also love that your goals are so aligned with family and building wealth for yourself and your future! So, why did you choose eXp as your brokerage?
JM: eXp is the only brokerage that increases agents’ freedom and income at the same time. It actually allows agents to have an exit strategy and build wealth for their families. It is the first brokerage that I have been a part of where agents care about each other, we all want to see each other grow and succeed. When I grow, we all grow.
CR: Yes! Every bit of this is why I love the eXp model! We have a way to build and grow our own businesses and collaboration and learning from each other is key. It has made such a difference in my business! Ok, our job demands that we see A LOT of homes, so tell me what your favorite room is in any home.
JM: The garage! As a car lover, I LOVE spending a Sunday morning working on my car with a hot cup of coffee. Getting dirty on the garage floor and watching YouTube videos for the 10th time on how to remove an oil filter. It’s just the best.
CR: That’s awesome! You’re the first agent who’s ever mentioned a garage. Mine would NOT be your favorite, but I love that you have this passion (and you’re patient enough to do it! HA!). Now, to finish off, tell me your favorite professional development book so our readers can pick it up and learn something new for their business!
JM: I love Rich Dad, Poor Dad. That book taught me the basic definition of assets and liabilities. I think every entrepreneur should read that book before diving in. it teaches you the basics and how to get rich, however you define “Your Rich Life”.
CR: Such a great book! Bryan said the same thing last week and I told him that as soon as I read it, I made Barry read it and then started handing them out like candy! So good. Thank you so much for taking the time, Jorge! I’m so thrilled I get to work with you and love your energy and passion for everything you do. So excited to see you keep killing it in 2022!
