CR: Hey Ellen, so excited to chat with you today. Tell everyone a little about yourself!
ET: Hi there! I just recently got my license in November of 2021. I’ve always been interested in real estate and got the confidence to pursue it after successfully building my own wedding planning business. I realized that a lot of the skills are similar – being a trusted advisor and helping guide clients through an otherwise stressful process, being able to multitask, being organized, and let’s not forget working nights and weekends and always answering your phone!
On the personal side, I was born and raised in Arlington, Virginia and moved to Atlanta in 2004 to attend Emory University. I’ve been down here ever since and have lived all over the city – Druid Hills, Virginia Highlands, Buckhead, Midtown, Inman Park, and now I live with my boyfriend and four dogs in West Midtown. When I’m not working I love CrossFit, wine nights with my girlfriends, traveling (preferably to a beach or somewhere warm), going out to eat, and watching the Bachelor or anything on HGTV.
CR: I love this. One of my favorite things about you is how you leveraged your skills in wedding planning and you’re making them work as a real estate agent. It’s really the perfect fit. Also, when people get married, they might want a new house. Genius, my friend! Ok, so tell me why, after starting and running your own successful business, eXp was the right fit for you.
*ET: As a new agent, I interviewed several brokerages and joining with eXp was the obvious choice. The support of not only our smaller Modern Agent group, but also the broader Fast Forward Movement community is unmatched. I have weekly access to extremely high producing agents who pour into this group, crack their playbooks wide open, and actually *love* to watch other agents grow and succeed. On top of that, eXp offers a generous commission split as well as multiple other ways to build wealth. I’m telling you, it’s a no brainer.
CR: This makes me so happy. I am thrilled at how hard you’ve worked and leaned into this new career. I am so excited to continue to watch your growth and success! So, when you’re showing homes or at home what’s your favorite room?
ET: Does anyone NOT say the kitchen? It’s the center of the home. Plus, it’s where the wine is (at least for those of us not fancy enough yet for a wine cellar).
CR: HA! A lot of living rooms and outdoor spaces but I’m with you sister. Show me where you keep the wine and that’s my favorite spot! 😂 Now that we know you LOVE a kitchen, how would you define your personal home design style?
ET: I love a mid century modern vibe but with super feminine accents. Think… pink, gold, marble, soft furry pillows and blankets, lots of plants, etc. I’m also a sucker for a fun and modern chandelier. Never underestimate the power of lighting fixtures, area rugs, and throw pillows to make a space your own!
CR: So true. Some of the smallest touches can make the biggest impact! I love the colors you mentioned too, sounds gorgeous and luxurious! Finally, let’s send our readers away with a new book to check out. What’s your favorite professional development book?
ET: “You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life” by Jen Sincero – really her entire series is awesome and a great read for anyone starting out a business or really just any new venture in life!
CR: That one has been on my list, but if you recommend it, I’m sold! Thanks so much for your time, Ellen. I’m so excited that you’re here with us as a Modern Agent and I can’t wait to see you continue to kill it!
