CR: Hi Kelly, so good to see you and catch up. Tell us about yourself so our readers can get to know you!
KR: Hi, Casey! Good to catch up with you, too! My name is Kelly Rasmovich and I’ve been a REALTOR® since August 2019! After graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in 2019 with my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, I was eager to help others and find passion in my everyday career. Growing up in a family filled with mortgage brokers, custom home builders, and real estate brokers, a career in real estate seemed like the natural path for me to combine my love for interior design, negotiating, and helping others.
In the beginning of 2021, I took on my first big investment project and flipped an A-frame cabin near Lake Lanier. This became my absolute passion project from envisioning the potential to managing contracting crews to picking out finishes and staging the home to be sold for top dollar… which we did!! I documented the entire journey on my Instagram and I still have people come up and ask me about the little black A-frame! Outside of my own projects, I am always looking for ways to combine my love for interior design into my work. I like to think I have a sweet spot for helping my buyers see past undesirable appearances of potential homes and allowing them envision a space that will fit their needs with just a few small (and occasionally large) tweaks.
Personally, I bought a townhome in November 2020 in Cumming for myself and my two fur-babies, Chloe and Palmer! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and pups, and inspiring others with home decor ideas. In the last year, my real estate best friend, Taylor Hosemann, and I started a podcast called Cocktails & Contracts in an effort to help other agents and create a community of women in real estate that wanted to elevate their business! Little did we know just how many women we would reach with our little talk show. Being able to spread light, positivity, and encouragement while sharing the real and raw side of real estate brings me more joy than I could’ve ever imagined.
CR: This is so amazing, you are such a boss. I love the Lake Lanier flip and how amazing you are at working your business. Since you were practically raised to be in real estate, I love that you bring that passion and energy to your job and work every day. I know you have some pretty impressive accomplishments, too. Will you share those with us?
KR: Thanks so much! And yes, I was the #2 agent for production at my previous brokerage, I’m an NAR 30 under 30 nominee, and I’m a Homesnap Fastest-Growing Agent Award nominee.
CR: Wow, like I said, a total boss. I’m so thrilled you joined me here at eXp. What was it about eXp that made you want to join?
KR: From the outside, all people saw was a thriving business, smiles, and being a top producer in my large brokerage. On the inside, I knew I needed more. I found myself in a position of feeling lonely and unmotivated. I felt like I had hit a ceiling in my production and didn’t have the guidance or mentorship to break through that ceiling. I had recently learned that two other young, top producing local agents that I had been interacting with on social media had made the move over to eXp. I saw their Instagram stories about the mentorship and opportunities that eXp was providing. I had never heard of eXp before, but I was intrigued enough to bring it up to Taylor over brunch one day. Little did we know, we were both interested in making the move! Later that week, we met with you and my eyes were opened! I like to say that once you see the eXp model, you can’t unsee it! I calculated how much I had given to my brokerage in the last 12 months and I felt physically sick when that number came up on my calculator – over $50,000. I switched to eXp that week and my business has never been stronger!
Aside from keeping my own hard-earned money, I gained mentors, resources, and best friends. I wake up each day excited to learn and serve my people. This community is so much more than just work… we’re family. We support each other on late nights of contract negotiations. We are there to give a shoulder to cry on through the tough ups and downs that are inevitable in this business. We are there to help pick up someone’s showings when one of us goes out of town. I went from eating in my car alone every day to lunch with the people I consider best friends and family! I can’t imagine ever going back.
I am so thankful to have direct access to mentors that are successful in all aspects of real estate from selling to investing. My goal isn’t to sell homes and host open houses for the rest of my life. I want to leverage my knowledge in real estate to invest more in long term holds and short term flips and mentor others in creating a thriving business that lasts! At my previous brokerage, I was mentoring so many new agents and I absolutely loved it, but at the end of the day all I was getting was a pat on the back. I wasn’t benefiting at all. Of course, we’d all love to help others out of the kindness of our hearts, but the reality is that time is money – and if it isn’t money earned, then it’s money lost. With eXp, the company rewards me for taking the spotlight off my own business to help others build. This was one of the main driving forces to bring me to eXp!
CR: I love this explanation of why this brokerage works for you. And it’s so true, once you do the math and see the business model of eXp, it’s a no-brainer. We love having you in our family, for sure! Now, for a fun question: What’s your favorite room in any house?
KR: When showing homes, the kitchen says a lot about a home. It’s one of the main features of a home that captures a buyer’s heart enough to put in an offer. I love a beautiful, large kitchen, but in reality you’ll rarely find me in there! I like to say that my favorite recipe is making reservations!! In my home, the living room is where I spend most of my time. I love the coziness it provides. It’s where I snuggle my pups, relax after a long day, have long talks with my friends, get some late night work in, and eat my take out dinners (whoops!).
CR: HA! I love that and I’ll totally be stealing the reservations line. Kitchens do tend to make or break a home but I also love a good living room! Sounds like the perfect spot! Now that you mentioned your home, how would you define your personal design style?
KR: If you know me at all, you know that design is my passion! I would describe my style as traditional with touches of modern accents. I love using white walls as a blank canvas to layer textured elements that warm up the space. My color palette is almost exclusively neutral tones (white, nude, and black) and then bringing in organic elements such as wood, metal, and greenery to ground the space.
CR: This sounds so dreamy! Your style is impeccable and I love having a blank canvas to start from as well! One more question so that everyone can get a little reading in, what’s your favorite professional development book?
KR: My all time favorite personal development book (that also helped tremendously in my professional life) is “You Are A Badass” by Jen Sincero. I would read 10 pages at a time every morning. This daily activity helped instill confidence in myself and my abilities. It’s definitely one of the best things I did for both personal and professional growth!. To me, this is a form of self-care that is necessary in my routine to put me in the right mindset for my day and my business.
CR: I love this and I think it’s safe to say, you are definitely a badass so that book did it’s job, friend! I’m so happy I get to work with you and I love watching you and your business continue to grow!
