CR: Hey, Hania! Can’t wait to chat with you about business for a little bit today. While I know you really well, not everyone is as lucky as me, so tell them a little bit about yourself.
HH: Hey, so good to chat with you, too! I have been a REALTOR® since Spring 2021. I grew up in Marietta, Georgia, attended The University of Georgia for college (GO DAWGS!), and then moved back to the Atlanta area after school. I graduated with a degree in Finance in 2009 just months into the financial market collapse (not the best time to graduate with a Finance degree!). After months of interviews, I finally landed a job in healthcare finance consulting. Since then, I’ve worked at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Wellstar Health System in numerous executive roles.
I experienced incredible burnout during COVID and decided to pivot and finally try out real estate. Real estate has always been a huge passion of mine…I started watching HGTV before it was cool and absolutely loved perusing real estate listings, open houses, and walking through new construction neighborhoods growing up. Beyond the joy I gained from the pretty/fun side of real estate, I personally saw it as the best vessel to build personal wealth.
My husband and I bought our first home 10 years ago by putting down about $7k at the closing table. By the time we sold that home, we used our equity to buy our next house… then we did it again for our current home. I do believe home ownership is truly the American dream and you can do it if you commit yourself to it!
On a personal note, I married my college sweetheart at 23, we immediately bought that first home with nearly all the money in our bank account, and we were pregnant with our son by our 1st anniversary. We now have 2 boys and are living in our forever home in Milton. In my free time, I love to cook (especially if it is Ina Garten, Once Upon a Chef, or Half Baked Harvest), explore new restaurants, and spend time with my friends and family. We are also about to close on a lot in North Georgia wine country where we plan to build a luxury Airbnb in the coming years!
CR: I love this. I’m so glad you decided to come on in to the world of real estate! I love your drive and how you view home ownership as an investment and a way to build wealth. It’s so important and not something everyone thinks about, especially when you’re as young as you and Alan were! Also, fun fact, Hania and I are neighbors and best friends so I can attest that she loves to cook (and is really good at it!). P.s. CAN’T WAIT for that luxury Airbnb. 😊
Ok, a little business chat now, why did you choose eXp?
HH: As a brand new agent entering the world of real estate, I knew that I would get the education and support I needed from eXp Realty. In addition, I heard time and time again about the rigid training schedules of other brokerages and the limited education opportunities that are offered. eXp just made sense for me and my busy schedule. Additionally, I knew that aligning myself with Casey was a no-brainer!
CR: I love this, the training and support here are truly unmatched and I’m so happy you joined me. I love working with you! I know the answer to this, but let’s give the people what they want, what’s your favorite room in any house?
HH: Hands down, the kitchen! When we decided to build our current home, it was by far the room I was most excited to design. I have developed a love for cooking (especially when I have plenty of time, like for a big family Sunday Supper) and I love the act of gathering around the table with friends and family. Pair in some good wine and I am a happy girl. Beyond that, the kitchen is the heart of the home. It is where we have our traditional Sunday morning crepes, where the kids do their homework, and where everyone gathers when they visit. My main goal when designing my kitchen was to make it BIG, bright, airy, and functional.
CR: So true, and your kitchen really is the heart of your home! Alright, since you brought up designing your kitchen to perfection, how would you define your personal design style?
HH: I would call it “Modern Southern Traditional.” Clean and timeless with a touch of modern. Warm whites with little pops of color draw me in.
CR: Yes, that’s the perfect description of your home. Speaking my language here, friend. It’s just the right mix! Alright, let’s talk about professional development and a book that inspires you?
HH: Can I pivot this question to a podcast? Unless I’m on a beach or a plane, I don’t spend very much time reading. However, I love listening to podcasts throughout the day.
CR: Absolutely, I may have to change the question for the future! Haha! Ok, what have you got for us?
HH: My favorite right now is Behind Her Empire. It’s all about self-made women that have bet on themselves and have built their own successful businesses. I find it so inspiring! I’m also currently loving We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle.
CR: I’ve so enjoyed the Behind Her Empire since you shared it with me months ago and cannot wait to check out Glennon Doyle’s, too!
Alright, finally, tell me about some of your awards and accolades to wrap it up. We want to brag on you!
HH: None in real estate (yet)! But I did win the Guiding Principle Award for Balance twice at Triage Consulting Group and then in college, I was Outstanding Greek Leader of the Year for UGA. Does that count? Haha!
CR: Totally counts, I know that is an awesome award and I love that you’ve brought your experience from your career in corporate healthcare to your real estate business. Thanks so much for chatting with me, that was fun! Now, how about a glass of wine (or two)?!
